KUMDO is the ‘Korean Art of the sword’ or ‘way of the sword’. It is the most disciplined of the arts, because to be a master of the sword one must feel the sword as an extension of ones own body. Kumdo warriors must always be aware of the sword’s placement, for his or her safety and the safety of others. Blade orientation (the straight line of the cut) is absolutely required in the execution of this art. Concentration and focus are obvious absolutes in Kumdo.
Sword history dates back some 6,000 years to the time of stone swords.
